One of our best Palms is the Emperor Sago Palm. The name itself makes it a stand alone specimen. These trees are not as susceptiable to scale insects. In the Sago family these are the hardiest to cold weather and they are the fastest to grow. The trees do well in full sunlight or partial shade. They also do their best in well drained soil. Another drought tolerant eye catching palm is the Senegal Date Palm. These trees are native to Africa. Cold hardy to 20 degrees. They are slow growing plants but in 2 to 3 years they will fully established. Plants are tolerant to most local soils.
